Product description Pears

The Beurré Alexandre Lucas was discovered around 1870 as a chance seedling by Alexander Lucas in a French nursery. This pear is characterised by its large size and broad shape. The smooth skin changes during ripening from light green to warm yellow green and often shows light russeting around the stem.

Harvested late in the season, usually between late September and early October, the pear has white to cream coloured flesh that is exceptionally juicy and buttery soft. The flavour is distinctly sweet with low acidity and a refined, honey like aroma.

Environmental & biodiversity impact Our environmental commitment for pears mirrors that for apples. With ‘On the way to PlanetProof’ certification, we commit to additional sustainability steps. In our pear orchards, we focus on innovation to minimise resource use and preserve long term soil fertility.
Animal welfare As fruit growers, our attention is directed toward the health of the entire orchard ecosystem. We actively stimulate biodiversity through flower strips and insect hotels. This healthy habitat is crucial for pollinators and therefore for a successful harvest.
Social impact As a family business, we attach great importance to our employees. Through GRASP certification, we confirm our commitment to fair labour, safety and sound social practices. We also invest in educating future professionals through recognised apprenticeships and internships.
